Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX)
Jackson plays the race card against Limbaugh. Doesn’t understand a “Sergeant Shultz” reference but is offended because she assumes it must be racist.
Ed Schultz’s first question to Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX): “Congresswoman, is there anything the African community can do about this? The comments speak for themselves.” (emphasis mine)
Rep. Lee was puzzled as to why Rush Limbaugh calls host Ed Schultz, “Sergeant Shultz.” Bringing race into the issue, Rep. Lee said: “I don’t know that to be your name. I’m a little sensitive to what that is to garner. Is that because you have a name that may be ethnically connected to being a Sergeant? I’m not sure what that is. I find that insulting as well.” Schultz is a white male.
Rep. Lee suggested that she, along with the Congressional Black Caucus, should boycott advertisers of Rush Limbaugh’s radio program.
