What Do I Find Interesting Today?

Our economy;

No country has ever taxed their way out of debt or taxed their way into prosperity.

We cannot possibly get ourselves out of this flood of debt.  The only thing we can do is convince foreign investors that we are serious about doing so.  And the only way to convince them is by raising our own taxes.  So get ready for it.

 The last time Republicans controlled spending, the deficit was under $200 billion.  The last time Republicans were in charge of spending was 2006.  In 2009 Obama assumes the presidency and claims he has inherited the bad economy (over and over again).  It’s true, he did inherit a mess… that a Democrat controlled congress made for him.  This is not Bush’s economy.  The Democrats have owned it for the last three years.  Why is that so hard for so many people to comprehend?

The fiscal year 2007 budget, the last one passed by a Republican congress under Bush, had a deficit of $161 billion.  The very next year under Democrat control – before the recession began – the deficit was $459 billion under the Pelosi congress.  In 2009 it was $1.4 trillion.

The nation’s total federal debt next year is expected to exceed $14 trillion — about $47,000 for every U.S. resident.  “This debt is like a cancer,” Bowles said in a sober presentation. “It is truly going to destroy the country from within.”

Daily debt calculations jump and fall, and big shifts are common. But all three of the biggest one-day debt increases have occurred under the tenure of President Obama, and all of the top six have been in the past two years – an indication of just how quickly the pace of deficit spending has risen under Mr. Obama and a Pelosi Congress.

Is it a bad idea or a horrible idea to spend $1.45 billion to create 85 jobs

Walmart needs to stop this immediately.  Speaking of Walmart… the left sure loves to hate corporations.  I have little sympathy for BP, it being a firm that has often feasted at government troughs.  But some perspective is now very much needed on the costs and benefits of corporations.

Consider that the latest estimated cost of the BP spill is $33 billion.  That’s a lot of money, to be sure.  But this sum pales in comparison to the amount of money that Wal-Mart’s retailing efficiencies are estimated to save consumers each year: $200 billion.

Oil spills are compellingly photographable – and, hence, attention-getting and emotion-stirring.  In contrast, lower prices for – which, by the way, mean fewer resources used to bring to market – clothing, children’s toys, digital cameras, groceries, etc., and other goods that we routinely enjoy are not photographable in any compelling way.  The result is that the social benefits of corporate innovations and competition are easily overlooked, ignored, taken for granted, forgotten.  But these benefits are enormous.  And any assessment of the worthiness of corporations in modern life had best take them into accurate account lest we adopt policies that make us all poor and miserable.

Racists and those who accuse others of racism;

The media certainly has no problems splashing Mel Gibson’s racial rants all over the airwaves and yet they completely ignore the New Black Panther Party member screaming on the public streets about killing cracker babies.  Or how the Department of Injustice dismisses a case in which the defendants had already been found guilty of voter intimidation simply because they were black.  What’s more important, some actor’s private, racial rant (which was disturbing to listen to) or the DOJ politicizing justice on the basis of race?

And there’s Geraldo arguing with Shabazz for 15 minutes ( VIDEO ) It’s a long clip, but look out for the part at around 12:10 where Shabazz tells Geraldo he’s part of the problem because he doesn’t support reparations. Good times.

And let’s not forget how the NAACP loves to incite racism by crying racism.  Yeah, I’m talking to you, you racist Tea Party people, and you Hallmark.  America is tired of Hallmark’s crusade to keep racism alive.  It’s such a lucrative subject for selling cards.  That’s what I hear anyway.  From the NAACP.  And while we’re talking about the NAACP, I thought the term “colored people” was considered “racist”.  They should get with the times.  When you can’t defend or articulate your view, just cry racist.  Game over.  You no longer have to discuss it.  One thing is for sure, if the NAACP doesn’t like your politics you can bet it’s because you’re a racist.

Exit question: Guess whose tactics Benjamin Jealous, leader of the NAACP, thinks the left should emulate.

Hypocrisy;

Michelle Obama told Americans they should take their vacations in the Gulf Coast in order to help the communities down there.  Then the Obamas go on their own vacation… to Maine.

Gun Control Idiots;

 Just how dumb is the mayor of Chicago?  He certainly doesn’t let facts get in the way of his ideology.

First Amendment Rights;

First Amendment 1 – Censorship 0.   That won’t stop Obama from doing his best to see to it that political dissent is curtailed over the public airwaves though.

And EnvironMENTALists;

Which saves more gasoline, going from 10 to 20 mpg, or going from 33 to 50 mpg? ANSWER

And I know a lot of the “global warming” data was made up.  Or rather, I thought it was, but it turns out that an “independent” review says it wasn’t (despite the fact that we know it was).  And by “independent” I mean done by the very institutions who employed those who lied about the data.  So I guess it was an independent review… in Opposite World.

Harry Reid;

He doesn’t think there are any illegal immigrants in Nevada.  He must not think there are any in Arizona either because he supports the lawsuit against them.  Obviously if he thought there were illegals in Arizona he would support the enforcement of such a law.  You know, just like the federal law.
